Genel Bakış

Vapi is a developer-focused platform for creating AI-powered voice agents that can hold natural, real-time conversations. It abstracts the complexity of stitching together speech-to-text, large language models, and text-to-speech, letting teams focus on agent logic and user experience instead of infrastructure. Through its APIs and SDKs, developers can configure voice models, define conversation flows, connect external tools and webhooks, and route calls over phone numbers or web channels. Built-in testing, logging, and analytics help iterate on agent behavior before pushing to production. Vapi is commonly used to power customer support lines, appointment scheduling, lead qualification, and other workflows where conversational voice replaces traditional IVR or call center steps.

Compared a few options

Evaluated this against two competitors. Where it wins: configurable STT, LLM, and TTS pipelines and quick to prototype voice agents via API. On balance the feature set — especially phone number provisioning and SIP support — justifies the 5 stars for our use case.

Does the job

Pretty happy overall. Function calling and webhook integrations just works and flexible choice of LLM, STT, and TTS providers. Voice quality depends on chosen third-party models can be annoying, but no dealbreakers — I'd recommend it to a friend without hesitating.

Years in this space

I've evaluated a lot of these over the years. What stands out here is real-time voice agent orchestration — handled better than most — and built-in call logging and debugging tools. Requires developer skills to implement is my one real gripe. Worth the time if this is your use case.
