Overview

Wren AI is an open-source SQL AI agent and cloud solution that enables teams to access and explore data insights through conversational queries. It provides real-time dashboards, drill-down, roll-up, and global filters, making it possible for non-technical users to ask questions in plain English and get instant insights. The platform is built on an agentic GenBI design, which constructs context automatically and flows into every answer. This context is shared across all users, providing a single source of truth for the entire organization. Wren AI is designed to be extensible, with support for 20+ data sources, such as BigQuery, PostgreSQL, and Amazon Redshift. It also features agent-agnostic and dialect-agnostic capabilities, allowing users to interact with the platform in a way that feels natural to them. The platform is governed at execution, meaning that data access and usage policies are enforced at query time, ensuring that users only see the data they are authorized to access. Wren AI's architecture is designed to provide transparency and accountability, with all interactions stored in a unified data policy repository. This makes it possible to track who saw what, which query produced which number, and more. The platform also supports collaboration, with features like reusable workflows, skills, and memory. Wren AI's features include a variety of applications, such as Vibe-coded dashboards, that can be built in one prompt. It also supports agent-friendly architecture, with tools and scripts that run inside an isolated environment. The platform also features Git-native and file system support, allowing users to manage versions of skills, memory, and semantic models. Finally, Wren AI offers support for multi-tenant cloud, private cloud, and air-gapped on-prem deployments, making it a flexible and scalable solution for organizations of all sizes. One of the key benefits of Wren AI is its ability to provide a governed context layer, self-service in Slack and Teams, and a roadmap that can be defended to the board. This makes it an ideal solution for organizations that want to ship 'AI for analytics' without ripping out their warehouse or trusting a black box. Wren AI's capabilities include but are not limited to: context construction, sandboxed, multi-step reasoning, reusable workflows, Vibe-coded dashboards, skills, memory, and Git-native file system support. It is designed to be a scalable and flexible solution that can be customized to meet the needs of organizations of all sizes.

Does the job

Pretty happy overall. The API just works and it saves real time. but no dealbreakers — I'd recommend it to a friend without hesitating.

Skeptical, then convinced

I went in skeptical — most tools in this space overpromise. It actually delivers on the integrations, and it saves real time caught me off guard. The docs could be deeper is why this isn't a perfect score, still, I'd recommend giving it a real trial.

Years in this space

I've evaluated a lot of these over the years. What stands out here is the dashboard — handled better than most — and support is responsive. Worth the time if this is your use case.

Use it every day

Honestly didn't expect to like it this much. The onboarding is exactly what I needed, and it saves real time. I do wish the docs could be deeper, but I reach for it almost every day now and it just clicks.
