Overview

v0 is an AI-powered coding assistant from Vercel that turns plain-text descriptions into functional web interfaces and code snippets. Developers can describe a component, layout, or full page, and v0 produces ready-to-use code built around modern frameworks like React, Next.js, and Tailwind CSS. Beyond initial generation, v0 supports iterative refinement, letting users tweak designs through follow-up prompts and preview results in real time. The generated code can be copied directly into a project or deployed through Vercel, making it useful for rapid prototyping, building MVPs, and accelerating everyday front-end work.

Years in this space

I've evaluated a lot of these over the years. What stands out here is support for shadcn/ui components — handled better than most — and outputs clean React and Tailwind code. Heavily oriented toward the React/Tailwind stack is my one real gripe. Worth the time if this is your use case.

Use it every day

Honestly didn't expect to like it this much. Text-to-UI component generation is exactly what I needed, and outputs clean React and Tailwind code. but I reach for it almost every day now and it just clicks.

Compared a few options

Evaluated this against two competitors. Where it wins: text-to-UI component generation and tight integration with the Vercel ecosystem. On balance the feature set — especially conversational editing and iteration — justifies the 5 stars for our use case.
