Overview

Syft is an AI-powered news app that lets users customize news tracking based on their interests and language. It cuts through the noise and delivers clear, digestible daily summaries tailored to an individual's language and preferences. Unlike regular news feeds, Syft provides a precise topic definition by understanding the user's intention and delivers summaries in the user's language. It offers a 'Followed Topics' feature that allows users to build their own channels and track the news that matters to them. However, users are limited to 10 'Followed Topics' on the free plan, which can be upgraded to 100 topics on the paid plan. Additionally, users can unfollow topics they no longer want to follow, allowing them to free up space for new ones. Syft also has plans to improve its news source customization and import features, which are temporarily offline. The app aims to provide a personalized news experience by cutting through the noise and delivering the most important facts from every language.

Compared a few options

Evaluated this against two competitors. Where it wins: personalized daily briefings and aggregates content from many sources. On balance the feature set — especially custom interest and keyword tracking — justifies the 5 stars for our use case.

Does the job

Pretty happy overall. Custom interest and keyword tracking just works and helps reduce information overload. Summaries may miss nuance from original articles can be annoying, but no dealbreakers — I'd recommend it to a friend without hesitating.

Skeptical, then convinced

I went in skeptical — most tools in this space overpromise. It actually delivers on topic-based filtering and organization, and aggregates content from many sources caught me off guard. Less useful for users who prefer long-form reading is why this isn't a perfect score, still, I'd recommend giving it a real trial.

Solid for our team

We rolled this out across the team last quarter and aggregates content from many sources. Custom interest and keyword tracking fits neatly into how we already work, and multi-source news aggregation removed a step we used to do by hand. but it has held up under daily use.

Q&A

How does Syft AI personalize the news I receive?

You set custom interests and keywords, and Syft tracks those across multiple indexed sources. It then aggregates relevant articles, generates AI summaries, and delivers personalized daily briefings organized by topic.

What types of users get the most value from Syft AI?

Syft AI is best suited for professionals, researchers, and anyone who needs to stay informed on specific topics, companies, or themes without spending hours browsing news feeds. It's less useful for readers who prefer in-depth, long-form articles.

What are the main limitations of Syft AI's summaries and coverage?

AI-generated summaries may miss nuance or context from the original articles, so important details can be lost. Additionally, coverage is limited to publications Syft has indexed, meaning some sources or niche outlets may not be included.
