Use cases

Build Single-Agent LLM Applications

Developers can use the SDK to quickly create standalone AI agents that leverage LLMs and external tools to complete tasks.

Orchestrate Multi-Agent Systems

Coordinate multiple specialized agents that collaborate, delegate, and share context to solve complex workflows beyond the scope of a single agent.

Integrate External Tools with LLMs

Connect language models to APIs, databases, and custom functions, enabling agents to take real actions and retrieve live information.

Prototype Agentic Workflows

Experiment with open-source building blocks to rapidly prototype, test, and iterate on agent-based automation before production deployment.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Integrates AI into applications
  • Seamless addition of SDK to projects
  • Simple build guide for different models, clouds

Cons

  • Steep learning curve due to customization options and requirements
  • Integration with specific models or tools may require additional setup
  • Error handling and debugging can be complex in multi-agent systems

Use it every day

Honestly didn't expect to like it this much. The automation is exactly what I needed, and support is responsive. but I reach for it almost every day now and it just clicks.

Does the job

Pretty happy overall. The onboarding just works and support is responsive. The mobile experience lags can be annoying, but no dealbreakers — I'd recommend it to a friend without hesitating.

Compared a few options

Evaluated this against two competitors. Where it wins: the automation and the value for money is strong. On balance the feature set — especially the onboarding — justifies the 5 stars for our use case.

Years in this space

I've evaluated a lot of these over the years. What stands out here is the API — handled better than most — and the value for money is strong. The mobile experience lags is my one real gripe. Worth the time if this is your use case.

Q&A

Is Strands Agents free to use?
