Solid for our team
We rolled this out across the team last quarter and the value for money is strong. The API fits neatly into how we already work, and the dashboard removed a step we used to do by hand. The mobile experience lags, which is the main caveat, but it has held up under daily use.
Does the job
Pretty happy overall. The dashboard just works and it saves real time. Pricing gets steep at scale can be annoying, but no dealbreakers — I'd recommend it to a friend without hesitating.
Years in this space
I've evaluated a lot of these over the years. What stands out here is the dashboard — handled better than most — and the value for money is strong. Worth the time if this is your use case.

Character cards define personas for chat interactions, while lorebooks inject contextual world or background information into prompts. Together they let users build rich, persistent role-play or narrative scenarios with their chosen LLM.
What model backends does SillyTavern support?
SillyTavern is a frontend that connects to many LLM backends, letting you use different model providers and local setups. It does not host models itself—you supply the backend connection.
Is SillyTavern free, and who is it designed for?
Yes, SillyTavern is open-source and free to use. It's aimed at power users who want advanced chat features like character cards, lorebooks, and extensions rather than a simple plug-and-play chatbot.
