Overview

Imagine a single control plane that spawns agents to write code for you, the way you write code. Collaborate, integrate into your process, and ensure production-grade code without the need to teach the AI. It works for ALL workflows (web, microservices, containers) and enables you to bring AI into legacy codebases without breaking: architecture, security, coding practices, CI-CD Integration Testing, and testing, and across languages and frameworks.

Use cases

Onboard developers to legacy codebases faster

New team members use PureCode AI to explain unfamiliar logic and navigate inherited projects, reducing ramp-up time on complex older systems.

Incrementally modernize aging stacks

Engineering teams get refactoring and framework migration suggestions to move legacy code toward newer standards without discarding institutional knowledge.

Auto-generate documentation for old systems

Produce summaries and documentation for poorly documented codebases, making them easier to maintain and hand off across teams.

Decipher and refactor inherited projects

Developers surface context and explanations for unclear logic, then apply targeted refactors to improve readability and maintainability.

Skeptical, then convinced

I went in skeptical — most tools in this space overpromise. It actually delivers on refactoring and modernization suggestions, and helps speed up developer onboarding caught me off guard. Niche focus may not suit greenfield projects is why this isn't a perfect score, still, I'd recommend giving it a real trial.

Solid for our team

We rolled this out across the team last quarter and supports incremental modernization workflows. Codebase navigation and context retrieval fits neatly into how we already work, and refactoring and modernization suggestions removed a step we used to do by hand. Niche focus may not suit greenfield projects, which is the main caveat, but it has held up under daily use.

Use it every day

Honestly didn't expect to like it this much. Codebase navigation and context retrieval is exactly what I needed, and supports incremental modernization workflows. I do wish requires careful review for critical refactors, but I reach for it almost every day now and it just clicks.

Compared a few options

Evaluated this against two competitors. Where it wins: codebase navigation and context retrieval and targets legacy code, a common pain point. Where it lags: niche focus may not suit greenfield projects. On balance the feature set — especially codebase navigation and context retrieval — justifies the 5 stars for our use case.

Does the job

Pretty happy overall. Codebase navigation and context retrieval just works and supports incremental modernization workflows. but no dealbreakers — I'd recommend it to a friend without hesitating.
