Overview

A GPT private platform, PrivateGPT, provides a customized ChatGPT-style interface for a company's internal knowledge base. It aggregates an organization's data, which is typically buried over time, and offers a more efficient search experience for employees. PrivateGPT allows users to connect various data sources, such as Notion, JIRA, Slack, and Github, to query the knowledge base. This integration enables employees to retrieve relevant information quickly. Key features of PrivateGPT include: - Secure data storage: The company's data is stored privately, and it is not used to train AI models. - Access control: Only authorized personnel within the organization have access to specific data and answers. - Integration with various platforms: PrivateGPT supports multiple data sources, allowing for a seamless knowledge management experience. PrivateGPT is developed by a spin-off project called Agile Monkeys.

Solid for our team

We rolled this out across the team last quarter and useful for onboarding and team-wide knowledge sharing. Role-based access and permissions fits neatly into how we already work, and private deployment for company data removed a step we used to do by hand. May need ongoing maintenance as documents change, which is the main caveat, but it has held up under daily use.

Use it every day

Honestly didn't expect to like it this much. Document summarization and search is exactly what I needed, and reduces time spent searching documents. I do wish answer quality depends on the underlying document quality, but I reach for it almost every day now and it just clicks.

Skeptical, then convinced

I went in skeptical — most tools in this space overpromise. It actually delivers on connects to multiple knowledge sources, and useful for onboarding and team-wide knowledge sharing caught me off guard. Answer quality depends on the underlying document quality is why this isn't a perfect score, still, I'd recommend giving it a real trial.
