LeanSentryAI-powered diagnostics and monitoring for IIS and ASP.NET performance issues.

Overview

LeanSentry is a specialized monitoring and diagnostics platform built for Windows web stacks, focusing on IIS, ASP.NET, and SQL Server workloads. It uses automated analysis to detect, diagnose, and explain performance problems such as slow requests, high CPU usage, memory leaks, and application hangs. Rather than just surfacing metrics, the platform applies expert diagnostic logic to pinpoint root causes and recommend specific fixes. This helps operations and development teams resolve production incidents faster, even when they lack deep expertise in IIS internals or .NET profiling. LeanSentry is typically used by teams running mission-critical .NET applications who need ongoing visibility into server health and want actionable guidance during outages or performance regressions.

Key features

  • Automated IIS and ASP.NET performance diagnostics
  • Hang and crash detection with stack trace analysis
  • Memory leak and high CPU investigation
  • Slow request and SQL query monitoring
  • Alerting with guided remediation steps
  • Historical incident reports and trend tracking

Use cases

Diagnose ASP.NET application hangs

Automatically detect IIS worker process hangs, capture stack traces, and identify the root cause so teams can resolve production outages without manual debugging.

Investigate memory leaks and CPU spikes

Pinpoint which code paths or modules are driving high memory usage or CPU consumption in .NET applications, with guided remediation steps.

Monitor slow requests and SQL queries

Track slow IIS requests and underlying SQL Server queries to surface bottlenecks in mission-critical Windows web applications before users are impacted.

Reduce MTTR for Windows web stacks

Give ops teams without deep IIS or .NET profiling expertise actionable alerts and historical incident reports to speed up incident response and resolution.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Deep specialization in IIS and ASP.NET diagnostics
  • Automated root-cause analysis with concrete recommendations
  • Detects hangs, leaks, and CPU spikes that generic APMs miss
  • Reduces mean time to resolution for Windows stack issues

Cons

  • Limited to Windows-based web stacks
  • Less useful for teams running non-.NET workloads
  • Niche focus may overlap with broader APM tools already in use

Use it every day

Honestly didn't expect to like it this much. Automated IIS and ASP.NET performance diagnostics is exactly what I needed, and deep specialization in IIS and ASP.NET diagnostics. I do wish limited to Windows-based web stacks, but I reach for it almost every day now and it just clicks.

Compared a few options

Evaluated this against two competitors. Where it wins: slow request and SQL query monitoring and automated root-cause analysis with concrete recommendations. On balance the feature set — especially historical incident reports and trend tracking — justifies the 5 stars for our use case.

Solid for our team

We rolled this out across the team last quarter and detects hangs, leaks, and CPU spikes that generic APMs miss. Slow request and SQL query monitoring fits neatly into how we already work, and automated IIS and ASP.NET performance diagnostics removed a step we used to do by hand. but it has held up under daily use.

Skeptical, then convinced

I went in skeptical — most tools in this space overpromise. It actually delivers on historical incident reports and trend tracking, and deep specialization in IIS and ASP.NET diagnostics caught me off guard. Limited to Windows-based web stacks is why this isn't a perfect score, still, I'd recommend giving it a real trial.
