Overview

Hostie is an AI-powered phone system designed to help restaurants manage their calls and bookings. It answers calls, texts, and questions in the restaurant's voice, ensuring that every opportunity to capture a guest or reservation is taken. The system is intended for independent restaurants and hospitality groups. Hostie was created by operators who understand the demands of the industry and aims to complement the existing staff by handling phone calls, texts, and emails. This allows the staff to focus on providing better service to guests in the restaurant. The system provides real-time visibility into conversations, transcripts, and guest history, which remains owned by the restaurant. Key features of Hostie include automated call and guest communication with custom prompts, real-time transparency and control, and a unified guest communication platform that integrates calls, texts, emails, Instagram, and Google Maps texting. The company offers responsive support from experienced operators and a quick setup process. According to the company, Hostie has helped restaurants such as Burma Food Group, Wayfare Tavern, The Stinking Rose Group, The Slanted Door Group, and DACHA Projects to boost their over-the-phone covers, manage large volumes of calls, and improve their reservation booking processes. The system integrates with other tools, such as Perfect Venue. While specific pricing information is not available, Hostie offers a free trial and a personalized demo. The company claims that its clients have seen significant increases in reservations, with one case study reporting a 141% boost in over-the-phone covers.

Does the job

Pretty happy overall. Automated call answering just works and frees hosts to focus on in-person guests. May struggle with highly unusual requests can be annoying, but no dealbreakers — I'd recommend it to a friend without hesitating.

Years in this space

I've evaluated a lot of these over the years. What stands out here is aI-driven reservation booking — handled better than most — and reduces missed reservations during peak hours. Worth the time if this is your use case.

I've evaluated a lot of these over the years. What stands out here is call routing to staff when needed — handled better than most — and frees hosts to focus on in-person guests. Limited to phone-based interactions is my one real gripe. Worth the time if this is your use case.
