Overview

The Executive AI Assistant is an open-source AI agent designed to manage email and scheduling tasks like an executive assistant. It is a prototype developed by the LangChain team, currently free to use, and works only with Google accounts. The AI agent can triage emails into three categories: "ignore", "notify", or "respond". It can also check calendars, schedule events (requiring approval before finalization), and send emails (also requiring approval). The assistant is set up through the LangChain Agents Agency, which involves creating an account, providing background information, and authorizing the assistant. This tool is planned to be open-sourced, allowing users to run it themselves with required accounts from OpenAI, Anthropic, and LangSmith Plus.

Does the job

Pretty happy overall. Configurable rules and persona just works and open and extensible for technical users. May need oversight for sensitive replies can be annoying, but no dealbreakers — I'd recommend it to a friend without hesitating.

Use it every day

Honestly didn't expect to like it this much. Integration with email and calendar tools is exactly what I needed, and customizable to match personal tone and rules. but I reach for it almost every day now and it just clicks.

Compared a few options

Evaluated this against two competitors. Where it wins: automated email triage and drafting and automates time-consuming email and calendar tasks. On balance the feature set — especially automated email triage and drafting — justifies the 5 stars for our use case.
