Skeptical, then convinced

I went in skeptical — most tools in this space overpromise. It actually delivers on low-latency optimized inference, and strong fill-in-the-middle performance caught me off guard. still, I'd recommend giving it a real trial.

Years in this space

I've evaluated a lot of these over the years. What stands out here is code completion and generation — handled better than most — and fast inference for real-time completion. Not fully open weights for commercial use is my one real gripe. Worth the time if this is your use case.

Does the job

Pretty happy overall. Support for 80+ programming languages just works and strong fill-in-the-middle performance. Less general-purpose than larger chat models can be annoying, but no dealbreakers — I'd recommend it to a friend without hesitating.

Compared a few options

Evaluated this against two competitors. Where it wins: support for 80+ programming languages and strong fill-in-the-middle performance. Where it lags: requires API or hosted access for best speed. On balance the feature set — especially aPI access via Mistral and cloud partners — justifies the 4 stars for our use case.
