Overview

ChatFlowchart is an AI-powered tool that generates flowcharts and diagrams through natural conversation. Users can turn text, images, and PDFs into editable diagrams by chatting with the AI. The tool can generate new flowcharts from prompts or recover old diagrams from various sources such as screenshots, PDFs, whiteboards, and images. Users can edit their diagrams in real-time by asking the AI to rename nodes, add steps, simplify branches, rewire connections, or restyle their diagram. Finally, users can export their diagrams in various formats, including PNG, SVG, PDF, Draw.io, Mermaid, and Excalidraw. ChatFlowchart allows users to create flowcharts from text, convert images into flowcharts, and export their work as a flowchart animation video.

Skeptical, then convinced

I went in skeptical — most tools in this space overpromise. It actually delivers on supports flowcharts and common diagram types, and lowers the barrier for non-designers caught me off guard. still, I'd recommend giving it a real trial.

Does the job

Pretty happy overall. Chat-based diagram generation just works and useful for documenting processes and logic. but no dealbreakers — I'd recommend it to a friend without hesitating.

Years in this space

I've evaluated a lot of these over the years. What stands out here is export options for sharing and embedding — handled better than most — and no manual shape placement required. Quality depends on prompt clarity is my one real gripe. Worth the time if this is your use case.
