Overview

Bolt.diy is an open-source platform that enables AI-powered full-stack web development using any Large Language Model (LLM). It aims to streamline the web development process by leveraging the capabilities of LLMs to assist with various tasks. The platform is designed for developers and individuals looking to create web applications efficiently. By integrating with different LLMs, Bolt.diy provides flexibility in choosing the most suitable AI model for specific project needs. The platform works by using AI to help generate code, design, and deploy web applications, potentially reducing the time and effort required for development. However, the actual performance and capabilities of Bolt.diy depend on the chosen LLM and the complexity of the project. Compared to traditional web development methods, Bolt.diy offers a novel approach by harnessing the power of AI, but its effectiveness may vary based on user expertise and project requirements.

Solid for our team

We rolled this out across the team last quarter and it saves real time. The onboarding fits neatly into how we already work, and the core workflow removed a step we used to do by hand. but it has held up under daily use.

Years in this space

I've evaluated a lot of these over the years. What stands out here is the integrations — handled better than most — and it saves real time. A few rough edges remain is my one real gripe. Worth the time if this is your use case.

Use it every day

Honestly didn't expect to like it this much. The core workflow is exactly what I needed, and support is responsive. I do wish a few rough edges remain, but I reach for it almost every day now and it just clicks.

Skeptical, then convinced

I went in skeptical — most tools in this space overpromise. It actually delivers on the API, and the value for money is strong caught me off guard. Pricing gets steep at scale is why this isn't a perfect score, still, I'd recommend giving it a real trial.

Compared a few options

Evaluated this against two competitors. Where it wins: the dashboard and it is genuinely easy to set up. Where it lags: pricing gets steep at scale. On balance the feature set — especially the API — justifies the 5 stars for our use case.
