Apžvalga

VacAIgent is an open-source trip planning tool that combines a Streamlit web interface with a crew of AI agents built on frameworks like CrewAI. Each agent takes on a specialized role—such as researching destinations, analyzing local context, or assembling itineraries—and they work together to produce a tailored travel plan based on user inputs like origin, destination, dates, and interests. The app is designed for developers and travel enthusiasts who want a hands-on example of agent collaboration applied to a practical task. Users enter their preferences in the Streamlit UI and receive a detailed itinerary with suggested activities, accommodations, transportation notes, and budget considerations. Because it's a community project, VacAIgent can be self-hosted, customized, and extended with different LLM backends or additional agent roles, making it both a usable trip planner and a learning resource for building multi-agent systems.

Compared a few options

Evaluated this against two competitors. Where it wins: personalized itineraries from user inputs and interactive Streamlit interface. Where it lags: requires technical setup and API keys. On balance the feature set — especially destination research and local insights — justifies the 4 stars for our use case.

Solid for our team

We rolled this out across the team last quarter and free and open-source codebase. Personalized itineraries from user inputs fits neatly into how we already work, and personalized itineraries from user inputs removed a step we used to do by hand. but it has held up under daily use.

Use it every day

Honestly didn't expect to like it this much. Multi-agent trip planning workflow is exactly what I needed, and customizable agents and LLM providers. I do wish output quality depends on chosen LLM, but I reach for it almost every day now and it just clicks.

Skeptical, then convinced

I went in skeptical — most tools in this space overpromise. It actually delivers on budget and logistics suggestions, and free and open-source codebase caught me off guard. still, I'd recommend giving it a real trial.
