Overview

Framer is an AI-assisted website builder that enables users to design and build responsive websites from prompts and designs. A professional design agent, native to the canvas, works directly on the site to generate and refine layouts in place. This design agent facilitates seamless design iterations and allows for the connection and control of various external agents, including AI tools like Claude, Codex, and Cursor. Users can also run their content management system (CMS) with an AI agent that sets up, organizes, and updates the entire CMS, connecting it directly to the canvas for synchronized content and design. Framer supports the creation of custom layouts, compositions, and designs with the aid of AI, and allows for seamless integration with other tools and platforms to streamline web development and deployment.

Does the job

Pretty happy overall. AI site and layout generation just works and strong design controls and animations. but no dealbreakers — I'd recommend it to a friend without hesitating.

Use it every day

Honestly didn't expect to like it this much. Drag-and-drop visual editor is exactly what I needed, and built-in hosting, CMS, and SEO settings. I do wish pricing can add up for larger projects, but I reach for it almost every day now and it just clicks.

Years in this space

I've evaluated a lot of these over the years. What stands out here is drag-and-drop visual editor — handled better than most — and responsive layouts without writing code. Advanced features have a learning curve is my one real gripe. Worth the time if this is your use case.
